Low Country Virtual is a tuition-free, full-time, online public school program for students in elementary and middle school grades in Low Country Education Consortium member and affiliate districts based upon the National Standards for Quality (NSQ).  Low Country Virtual will be serving grades 5-8 for the 2023-2024 school year. 

What We Do

Low Country Virtual offers a strong South Carolina standards-aligned curriculum and a flexible, online learning environment. Students will be able to take core courses in English language arts, math, science, and social studies as well as electives via a high-quality curriculum taught by certified teachers. Students remain enrolled in their base schools in their home district and are eligible for participation in extracurricular events and activities.

Low Country Virtual partners with several national organizations to ensure quality.  We are a member of the Digital Learning Collaborative, Quality Matters, and active in the National Standards for Quality. We also partner and work with VirtualSC.

Our District Partners

Low Country Virtual is a shared-services collaborative effort between eight school districts in the Palmetto State. Virtual/Online learning leaders from these districts met during the 2020-2021 school year to plan the program and launched the school in August 2021. Currently the districts partner for these grade levels:
  • Berkeley- Grades 5-8
  • Beaufort- Grades 5-8
  • Charleston-Grades 5-8
  • Colleton – Courses for High School Students
  • Dorchester District Four- 5-8
  • Greenwood District 52- 5-8
